1. Key Implementation Updates
Local Workers (Pekerja Tempatan):
Voluntary (Sukarela)
- Contributions are no longer mandatory.
- Effective immediately, local workers can choose to contribute based on their individual needs.
Foreign Workers (Pekerja Asing): Mandatory
(Kekal Mandatori)
- Remains compulsory under existing legal provisions.
2. Why Keep the Scheme?
- Provides 24-hour social security protection for accidents occurring outside of working hours and workplace premises.
- Covers everyday personal activities to ensure the welfare and safety of Malaysias workforce.
3. Next Steps & Future Plans
- Implementation Details: PERKESO will announce the voluntary registration process and mechanism for local workers in the near future.
